I'm sure they all have their reasons for decline.


VT's are somewhat unique: an aging school president (Charles Steger) who stayed on longer than he wanted due to a lawsuit filed against him; an aging, unhealthy AD (Jim Weaver) who was less effective due to his illness; an aging coach (Frank Beamer) who did not respond to the changes in college football; an un-innovative fund-raising arm (the Hokie Club) that did well but not as well as it could have. VT was rudderless for a few years, and that was all it took.

Don't ask me to explain Tennessee. 😜
